Immunization Requirements for Tennessee
Our Vaccination Policy
At our clinic, we believe deeply in the value of vaccines and the critical role they play in protecting children’s health. As healthcare professionals, we follow the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). These guidelines are based on decades of research and evidence gathered from millions of children.
We understand that parents may have questions or concerns, and we welcome open, respectful conversations about vaccines. Our goal is not to pressure you, but to provide clear, evidence-based information to help you make informed decisions about your child’s health.
That said, we do require all our patients to stay on the recommended vaccine schedule. This is a standard we hold because:
-
Vaccines are a safe and essential tool in preventing life-threatening illnesses.
-
Immunizations save lives and reduce the spread of dangerous diseases.
-
The current vaccine schedule is the result of rigorous study and expert review over many years.
Many vaccine-preventable diseases are now rarely seen—thanks to immunization efforts. However, this success can create a false sense of security. When we let our guard down, these diseases can and do return—with serious consequences.
If you choose to delay or decline vaccinations, we respectfully ask that you seek care from another healthcare provider whose philosophy aligns more closely with yours. This requirement is to protect your child from disease and our clinic from liability. It also insures that you as main caregiver, and we as your medical professionals are on the same wavelength when protecting your child.
Lastly, if your child receives any vaccines at a pharmacy or outside our clinic, please notify our office so we can ensure their records are accurate and up to date. Pharmacy systems don’t always notify the state registry right away, and your child’s complete medical history helps us provide the best care possible.
